Manhattan’s West Side

If you’re ever in the mood to take a day trip to galavant in the City, be sure to do it along New York’s West Side. As part of the Manhattan Waterfront Greenway, this bike tour is sure to give you a different perspective of the beloved city.

This was hands down one of the coolest NYC experiences that I’ve stumbled upon, all for less than the price of an Uber.

Step 1: Find a Citi Bike Station and rent a Day Pass. (theres one every few blocks)

  • It’s relatively cheap. $12 for the day plus a $101 security deposit that gets refunded to you after you return the bike

Step 2: Read the instructions! I can’t stress this enough

  • You have 30 minute intervals with the bike and you have to find another local Citi bike station to reload your time otherwise you incur fees.

Step 3: Hungry? check out Pier 66 Maritime. I don’t want to give too much away but here’s a shot right outside the place.

I mean.. c’mon.

Step 4: Put in Battery Park as your final destination and be sure to stop at:

9/11 Memorial

Chelsea Piers

Riverside Park

Pier 84

Hudson River Park

Cool Globes

Freedom Tower

Korean War Memorial

Museum of Jewish Heritage

I mean the list goes on and on. Its amazing what you’ll stumble across with a bike, headphones, a GPS and a camera. Take a Saturday, go with a friend and admire what’s in store.

One last thing, don’t forget to plan out where the Citi bike stations are otherwise you’d be screwed with fees.
